Jack Rose Cocktail

The Jack Rose Cocktail is a sweet apple-flavored cocktail, wonderful for sipping on a warm fall evening.

Jack Rose Cocktail

Last fall, I was on a mission to find a new seasonal cocktail. An Apple Cider Old Fashioned had been my favorite for several years. I also really enjoyed a St. Germain Kumquat Cocktail (as did a coworker and my neighbor!) but kumquats are hard to find, even during their peak season of late fall or early winter. So I was on the hunt for something different.

I tried a couple of different cocktails and reached a winner (after a tweak) with the Jack Rose Cocktail, from Mix Shake Stir (affiliate link). The description of the cocktail intrigued me – named after a reputed gangster and a favorite among other “tough guys.” I couldn’t have been more surprised by the description, especially after trying it. This is a very sweet apple cocktail, which I lightened up with a generous splash of club soda.

Recipes Notes for Jack Rose Cocktail:

    • I found the original cocktail fairly sweet. To lighten it up, I added an ounce or two of club soda after mixing, reflected below. If you prefer a sweeter cocktail, skip this step.
