One of the fun parts about participating on sponsored events is getting to share my favorite brands and products with you all, but also, getting to try out new products that I normally wouldn’t get to, like products that aren’t readily available in my area.

Door County Coffee and Tea is one of those products. I’ve been seeing it around the blogosphere, but had never see it available in any of my local supermarkets. Door County Coffee and Tea is a small, family-owned business in Door County, Wisconsin. The coffee is roasted in small batches, using Class 1 Arabica coffee beans.

But what intrigued me the most was the flavors offered! I’m normally a plain old medium-roast type of girl, but I’ve been known to enjoy a little vanilla or hazelnut coffee every once and a while. Door County had more creative flavors than I could have imagined. I was able to sample several from their fall collection, and was impressed by the range of flavors they managed to infuse into their coffee. I thought that the flavors were most pronounced when enjoyed as iced coffee, rather that hot coffee, but I enjoyed it all nonetheless.

Recipe Notes:

  • Use good quality vanilla ice cream here. You can make it yourself, or buy store bought,  but you want that bright vanilla flavor.
  • Don’t skimp on the Praline Pecans. I used those from our sponsor Millican Pecan in the recipe, and they were perfect – crunchy and sweet, but not totally crusted in sugar that you couldn’t taste the pecan. Every time I passed the bag, I’d snag a few to munch while walking around – they’re really delicious!
  • Finally, I used the Bourbon Pecan Pie Coffee from Door County Coffee and Tea for the affogato. I’m not going to lie, there’s not a great substitute for this particular flavor. But the bags are reasonably priced both through their website as well as on Amazon. When making for use in this recipe – brew STRONG coffee, since affogato usually calls for espresso. An extra scoop or two for the pot should do it.
