A friend brought this appetizer over one night, and it has become one of my husband’s favorites (Thanks S!). I have never had dates, but the yummy bite tastes like candy – sweet and soft. The only catch is that these goodies are best served hot.

My first attempt at making them was mixed – I was going to cook the appetizer at a friend’s house so I wrapped them all in aluminum foil to transfer. Do NOT cook them in the foil, but on a boiler pan. I tried using the foil – they didn’t get crispy and the foil ended up tearing, leaving a juicy mess in the oven – and yes, it burned and we got to listen to the smoke alarm 4 times before getting to savor these sweet treats.

Bacon Wrapped Dates & Pineapple


  • 1 lb. bacon
  • 1 can pitted dates (in the dried fruit aisle)
  • 1 can pineapple chunks

Preheat oven to 325.

Cut bacon strips in half. Wrap one date and one piece of pineapple in each slice of bacon.

Place the wrapped bacon bite on a broiler pan, seam side down.

Bake 15-20 minutes, until bacon is crispy.

Serve hot!
